First Chiefs Free Agent Leaves Town

John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports the Houston Texans have agreed to terms with former Kansas City Chiefs offensive lineman Wade Smith.

Smith spent the last two seasons (and a regime change) in Kansas City where he was at times a valuable part of the mix on the offensive line.

We've been tracking Smith's visits since the Chiefs let him become an unrestricted free agent last Friday.

He started off by making a visit to Buffalo, where there was later a press conference scheduled lending some to believe a day with the Bills was near. However, he left Buffalo and visited Houston, where he had dinner with Texans coach Gary Kubiak and visited the stadium.

On Monday he left Houston and made his way to Arizona for a visit with the Cardinals.

Two days later and he's a Texan.

This is the first unrestricted free agent to leave the Chiefs. They also re-signed Chris Chambers, Terrance Copper and Mike Vrabel.

Sean Ryan was reportedly drawing interest from the Redskins but remains unsigned. And I haven't heard a peep about Mike Brown or Bobby Wade.
